Design for Additive Manufacturing of spare parts produced by using advanced polymers

Vitesco Technologies is a leading international developer and manufacturer of modern drive technologies for sustainable mobility. With intelligent system solutions and components for electric, hybrid and combustion drive trains, Vitesco Technologies makes mobility clean, efficient and affordable. The product portfolio includes electric drives, electronic control systems, sensors and actuators as well as exhaust gas aftertreatment solutions.

Vitesco Technologies Italy and in particular the Agile Engineering team is currently involved in the design of electric drivetrain.

Students will:

  • Identify all new spare parts on production line
  • Identify all existing spare parts which can be produced by using advanced polymers (e.g., PEEK, PEI, etc.)
  • Define relevant geometrical and process parameters
  • Optimize the design to reduce cost
  • Create a new parallel process to replenishing stock production

Qualifications

We are looking for a thesis candidate, fluent English with knowledge of

  • CAD software: Inventor, SolidWorks
  • 3D software: Simplify 3D, Cura
